UPWARD FITNESS IS INVITING THE COMMUNITY TO "CLIMB EVEREST" WITH THEM THIS SPRING!

This April, Upward Fitness and members of the community are setting up base camp at the infamous JBU stairs and climbing mountains in support of local seniors. And you're invited!!! Each individual is being challenged to "summit" at least one mountain on their own (see summit graphic below). And each team is being challenged to make at least 492 cumulative trips up (and back down) the stairs . . . the distance equivalent to summiting Mt. Everest at 29,029 feet.

This unique, stair-climbing fundraiser will benefit the work of Kind at Heart Ministries, a local nonprofit that supports the needs of the aging & mobility-impaired. From building wheelchair ramps to making bathrooms handicap-accessible, and/or helping with home modification projects and maintenance needs, the Kind at Heart mission is focused on making independence possible for the aging and disabled. Because, while some of us are able to climb step after step, there are others who are fighting the daily, uphill battle to simply navigate their homes safely.

KEEP YOUR EYE ON THE (LITERAL) PRIZE

This is both a fitness challenge and a fundraising challenge. Participants will be using the challenge to both test their physical limits and raise awareness/funds for local seniors in need. Think you and/or your team can climb the most stairs? We've got prizes for that! How about raise the most money by flexing your fundraising muscles? We've got prizes for that, too! Check them out below . . .

BASE CAMP OPTION: Since stairs aren't for everyone, we encourage participants to engage at a level that works for them. For example, individuals are more than welcome to support fundraising efforts at a lower level of intensity, such as through miles walked/travelled. And you are still eligible to compete on the fundraising level. Just set your challenge and go for it!

BUILD A TEAM AND EARN BADGES

OPEN INVITE. Not a member of Upward Fitness? No problem! We are challenging other individuals, groups, businesses, and families to form teams and compete for prizes . . . and bragging rights.

KID FRIENDLY EXPERIENCE. In addition to providing both adult AND kid prizes, we will have family-friendly activities taking place at/near the JBU stairs regularly throughout the 10-day challenge. A calendar of these events will be shared with participants via text and is available upon request.

EARN BADGES! Each participant is being challenged to climb one mountain (or more) on their own. Climb the tallest mountains in Arkansas, the U.S., and/or the world and earn a badge/patch for each!

Individual Climbers - Spend a minute setting-up your personal fundraising page and consider creating/joining a team. Don't worry! It's super easy and we've already done a lot of the work for you!
Team Leaders - Start recruiting members for your "Everest Challenge" team now! Create a team fundraising page and share it with your team members so they can sign up right under your team name!
